Production-weighted average spot price per energy source. Compares hourly production volumes from Elhub with spot prices to reveal which technologies capture the most value.
The capture price is the production-weighted average spot price for each energy source. For every hour, the production volume is multiplied by the spot price, then divided by total production to get a weighted average. Sources that produce more during high-price hours have a higher capture price.
The Elhub source uses actual metered production volumes per technology (hydro, wind, solar) aggregated by price area. The PVGIS source replaces solar with a modelled Typical Meteorological Year profile for a generic 50/50 east/west plant at 10° tilt.
